APC Hands Fubara, Others Major Roles Ahead of Presidential Primary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, alongside several governors and party leaders, to oversee aspects of its forthcoming presidential primary election.

The ruling party also released guidelines for the conduct of the primary, adopting a direct primary system that will allow registered party members across the country to participate in the exercise.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, said the National Working Committee approved the composition of the presidential primary election committee, appeal committee, state coordinators, and collation officers.

“The decisions were taken in line with the party’s constitution, the Electoral Act, and our commitment to a transparent and credible primary election process,” Morka said.

According to the guidelines released by the All Progressives Congress, all registered party members across the country’s 8,809 wards will be eligible to vote during the presidential primary election.

The party said results from the exercise would be collated across the 774 local government areas before being transmitted to the presidential primary election committee in Abuja.

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim, was named chairman of the presidential primary election committee.

Other members of the committee include former Senate President Ken Nnamani, former Senate Leader Victor Ndoma-Egba, former Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara, and former Kogi State Governor Idris Wada.

The APC also appointed former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari as chairman of the presidential primary election appeal committee.

Other members of the appeal panel include Samuel Piwuna and former Speaker of the House of Representatives Patricia Etteh.

Among the state coordinators and collation officers announced by the party are Hope Uzodimma, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Ahmadu Fintiri, and Babagana Zulum.

Others include Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, former Oyo governorship candidate Teslim Folarin, and former senator Uche Ekwunife.

The APC said the appointments reflected efforts to ensure broad representation and smooth coordination of the presidential primary process across the federation.

The party added that the final collated results of the presidential primary election would be presented in Abuja on 24 May 2026.
