Former Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA), Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, has clinched the Edo South Senatorial District ticket on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The result was announced by Mr. Ebiowei Olomu, chairman Primary Committee of the ADC in Benin City.
He said that Mr. Iduoriyekemwen secured a total vote of 23,174 to emerge winner of the primary.
Mr. Olomu also said Prince Musa Braimoh emerged winner in the Edo North Senatorial district, polling a total vote of 14, 992 while Mrs. Herberta Okonofua won the Edo Central Senatorial district ticket by securing a total vote of 4898.
Olomu said that the election was very peaceful and urged them to continue in the same manner and work towards winning the main election.
Addressing Journalists after being declared winner, Mr. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen said the people of Edo South have had several senators who have contributed their own quota to the development of the state.
He said he is going to the senate to serve as a voice that speaks for the unification of the people of Edo South and attract meaningful development to the state because he has lived in the state and he knows their yearning and aspirations.
Also speaking, Mrs. Herberta Okonofua, said she was called upon by her people to come and serve them and that she believes that they are going to back her up.
She noted further that things have changed adding that, the Senate is no longer a place of retirement but a place where laws are made for the wellbeing of Nigerians.
