As political activities ahead of the 2027 Plateau State governorship election continue to gather momentum, a leading aspirant on the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Simput Eagles Dafup II, has paid a strategic courtesy visit to the National Leader of the party, His Excellency Senator Seriake Henry Dickson, in Abuja.
The visit, which attracted party stakeholders and supporters, provided an opportunity for Dr Dafup II to formally present his governorship aspiration to the former Bayelsa State governor and seek his blessings and support ahead of the party’s preparations for the 2027 election.

Dr Dafup II was accompanied by the NDC National Vice Chairman, North Central, Engr. Barnabas Ejiri, House of Representatives aspirant for Jos South and Jos East Federal Constituency, Hon. Simon Chiroma, as well as several party faithful from Plateau State.
Speaking with Truth Live News International shortly after the meeting, Dr Dafup II described the engagement as productive and inspiring, likening it to “a father and son meeting.”
According to him, the interaction afforded him the opportunity to discuss his vision for Plateau State and receive valuable counsel from one of the country’s most experienced political leaders.
The governorship hopeful also expressed confidence in his chances at the polls, declaring that he is prepared to challenge the incumbent administration, which he accused of failing to provide effective governance and adequate protection for the lives and property of Plateau residents.
Dr Dafup II maintained that restoring security across the state would be his foremost priority if elected governor, stressing that sustainable development and economic growth can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and safety.

He further pledged to pursue policies aimed at rebuilding public trust, empowering communities, creating economic opportunities for young people, and ensuring that government remains responsive to the needs of the people.
The visit is seen by party observers as part of ongoing consultations by the NDC governorship hopeful as he seeks to consolidate support across party structures ahead of the 2027 governorship race in Plateau State.
