Davido Joins Calls for Rescue of Kidnapped Oyo Schoolchildren, Teachers

Nigerian singer Davido has joined growing calls for the rescue of schoolchildren and teachers abducted during the recent attack on schools in Oyo State.

The Afrobeats star lent his voice by reposting a graphic calling for the safe return of the victims on his Instagram story.

Although he did not attach any caption to the post, many fans viewed the gesture as a show of solidarity with the affected families and communities.

Davido was not alone, as several other Nigerian celebrities also voiced outrage over the worsening insecurity, including Nollywood stars Yvonne Jegede, Ruth Kadiri, Toyin Abraham, and Opeyemi Aiyeola, all calling on the government and influential Nigerians to take urgent action.

Most recently was the invasion when armed men stormed several schools in Oriire Local Government Area on the morning of May 15, 2026, abducting teachers, students, and a principal. Authorities confirmed that 46 people were taken, including seven teachers and 39 students, one of them just two years old. Governor Seyi Makinde later confirmed the execution of one of the teachers.

As of today, Governor Makinde said his administration is “working round the clock” to ensure the children are reunited with their families, while President Tinubu has directed security agencies to strengthen protection measures for schools in high-risk areas and pledged to intensify coordinated rescue efforts.
