Sokoto Pilgrims Get N450,000 Sallah Gift from Gov Aliyu

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has donated 1,000 Saudi Riyals, equivalent to about N450,000, to each of the 2,410 pilgrims from the state currently performing the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

The announcement was made on Thursday night, May 28, 2026, in Mina by the Sokoto State Amirul Hajj, Muhammad Mai Gari Dingyadi, who described the gesture as part of the governor’s commitment to supporting the welfare of the pilgrims.

According to Dingyadi, the financial support is intended to help ease the pilgrims’ expenses as they prepare for their return journey to Nigeria after the completion of the Hajj rites.

“Governor Ahmed Aliyu has approved the donation of 1,000 Saudi Riyals to each pilgrim from Sokoto State as a Sallah package to support them during their stay and return journey,” he said.

The Amirul Hajj also commended the pilgrims for their discipline and compliance with Saudi Arabian laws throughout the pilgrimage period.

“We are proud of the exemplary behaviour displayed by Sokoto pilgrims. None of them was involved in any violation of Saudi laws, and they have conducted themselves as worthy ambassadors of our state,” Dingyadi stated.

He urged the pilgrims to maintain the same level of discipline until the conclusion of the pilgrimage.

Dingyadi further reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration to the welfare of Sokoto residents.

“The present administration remains dedicated to improving the wellbeing of Sokoto citizens and ensuring continuous support for pilgrims and other residents of the state,” he added.

He also encouraged the pilgrims to pray for peace, unity and progress in Sokoto State and Nigeria.

“I encourage all pilgrims to pray for the success of Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration and for Allah to restore lasting peace and security in Sokoto State and across the country,” he said.
