
IThe Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two individuals in connection with allegations of theft, unlawful entry, criminal collaboration, and possession of prohibited weapons in Keffi Local Government Area.
According to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, the arrests followed a complaint made by a resident who reported the theft of his mobile phone from his room.
The complainant alleged that one of the suspects gained unauthorized access to his apartment and made away with an Android device before fleeing when his actions were discovered.
Following the report, detectives attached to the Keffi Division launched an intelligence-driven operation that led to the apprehension of the main suspect and another individual residing in the Mayanka area of Keffi.
Police said a subsequent search uncovered several items believed to be linked to criminal activities. Recovered exhibits reportedly included a locally fabricated firearm loaded with live ammunition, two cutlasses, a knife, multiple mobile phones, keys, and other materials considered relevant to the investigation.
Authorities stated that both suspects remain in custody while investigators work to determine whether they may be connected to additional offences within or outside the area.
The command described the arrests as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and combat criminal activities across the state.
Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro-Mohammed reportedly commended the officers involved for their swift action and professionalism, noting that proactive policing remains essential in maintaining public safety.
The police also encouraged residents to continue sharing credible information with security agencies, stressing that community cooperation plays a vital role in crime prevention and law enforcement.
Officials assured members of the public that investigations are ongoing and that anyone found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
