Paris Celebrates PSG’s European Triumph as Police Respond to Isolated Disturbances

Thousands of Paris Saint-Germain supporters poured into the streets of the French capital to celebrate the club’s latest UEFA Champions League success, while security forces worked to manage crowds and contain scattered incidents of unrest.

Large gatherings formed across several parts of Paris after PSG secured another European title, with many fans marking the occasion through street celebrations, fireworks, chants, and displays of club colours.

Authorities had anticipated massive turnout following the final and deployed a significant police presence throughout the city. Security personnel were stationed around key locations, including the Parc des Princes stadium and the Champs-Élysées, where supporters gathered in large numbers.

At the Parc des Princes, tens of thousands of fans watched the final on giant screens before joining post-match celebrations. While most of the festivities remained peaceful, isolated clashes and moments of tension were reported in some areas.

Police used crowd-control measures, including tear gas in certain locations, as officers sought to prevent disturbances and maintain public order. Several arrests were made during the evening as authorities responded to incidents linked to vandalism and disorderly behaviour.

Officials reported that a number of vehicles and commercial properties sustained damage during the celebrations, although the majority of supporters celebrated without incident.

The extensive security operation reflected concerns stemming from previous large-scale football celebrations, which had been marred by violence and injuries. Authorities therefore maintained heightened vigilance throughout the night.

Despite the isolated disturbances, the dominant mood across Paris remained one of celebration as PSG supporters revelled in another major European achievement.

The victory further strengthened the club’s growing reputation on the continental stage and sparked scenes of joy across the city, with fans continuing celebrations well into the night.

French authorities are expected to review the security operation and assess the impact of the festivities as the city returns to normal activity following the celebrations.
