The winner of the upcoming 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season stands to pocket a groundbreaking N1 billion prize money, marking a significant boost for Nigerian club football.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) announced the new reward structure, which dramatically escalates payouts across the league table.
Runners-up will receive N800 million, while the third-placed team earns N700 million. Teams finishing in lower positions will also benefit from position-based financial rewards.
In addition, the NSC has approved a minimum monthly salary of N2 million for NPFL players, aiming to improve welfare and attract better talent to the domestic league.
This represents a massive increase from previous seasons. Enugu Rangers, the defending champions, received N150 million for their title win last season, while prior winners Remo Stars earned N100 million.
The enhanced prize structure is expected to heighten competition, boost club investments, and elevate the overall standard of the NPFL as Nigerian football continues its push for greater professionalism and global relevance.
