Nigerian Afrobeats star Damini Ogulu, widely known as Burna Boy, has etched his name in music history by becoming the first African artist to claim the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Global 200 Songs chart.

The Grammy Award-winning singer reached the milestone with ‘Dai Dai,’ the official FIFA World Cup collaboration featuring Colombian superstar Shakira.

The achievement marks another career-defining moment for Burna Boy, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s biggest global music exports.
The track climbed to No. 1 on this week’s Billboard Global 200 rankings.

In addition to leading the Billboard Global 200, ‘Dai Dai’ also secured the top spot on the Billboard Global 200 Excl. U.S. chart.

The song continued its strong performance in the United States, jumping 12 places to a new peak of No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Meanwhile, another Nigerian astist, Tems’ ‘What You Need’ moved up five places to reach a new peak of 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 after 15 weeks on the chart.

‘What You Need’ recently reached number one on both the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and the Mediabase Urban radio airplay chart.

Tems is the first solo African artiste to hit the milestones.
