Infamous bandit leader Alhaji Sani Yellow has dismissed widespread reports of his death, releasing a video to prove he is alive and well.
The video, shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday by a user identified as Mobilisingnigerians, shows Sani Yellow directly addressing and denying claims that he was killed during a recent security operation in Zamfara State.
Reports of his demise had circulated days earlier, claiming that the notorious commander who allegedly coordinated multiple attacks along the Anka–Bagega Road was eliminated in Anka Local Government Area during a confrontation involving Maiduguri Special Vigilantes. His body was reportedly displayed to residents as evidence of the operation’s success.
However, the latest video clarifies that the slain individual was another bandit commander known by the nickname “Yellow,” loyal to a leader identified as Gwaska. A message accompanying the video explained:
“UPDATE: Alhaji Sani Yellow posted a video denying his death that occurred 2 days ago which was wrongly posted on social media. However, the image of the dead bandit killed is a commander (Yellow) loyal to Gwaska. The name Yellow has become a popular name and a nickname in the banditry world.”
The confusion reportedly arose from mistaken identity and the circulation of old photos. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement clarifying the identity of the bandit killed in the operation.
