Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor have confirmed they are in transfer negotiations with Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah and expect him to arrive in Turkey for talks on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
The club announced the development in a statement released on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
“Mohamed Salah, with whom we have begun transfer negotiations, will be at Istanbul Ataturk Airport at 12:00 on Wednesday, August 5,” the club said.
“The player is scheduled to arrive in Trabzon on the same day in the evening hours.”
Salah became a free agent after leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2025/26 season, bringing an end to a successful nine-year spell at Anfield.
During his time with the Premier League club, the Egyptian international won the UEFA Champions League and two Premier League titles.
He also established himself as one of Liverpool’s greatest players, scoring 257 goals in 442 appearances across all competitions to become the club’s third-highest goalscorer.
Salah has also scored 193 Premier League goals, including 191 for Liverpool, placing him fourth on the competition’s all-time scoring chart behind Alan Shearer, Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney.
The 34-year-old endured a difficult final campaign at Liverpool, scoring seven league goals as the club struggled for consistency.
Most recently, Salah featured for Egypt at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, helping the Pharaohs reach the Round of 16 for the first time since 1934 before they surrendered a two-goal lead in a defeat to eventual runners-up Argentina.
Before Trabzonspor’s announcement, Salah had also been linked with a move to fellow Turkish club Besiktas.
Trabzonspor finished third in the Turkish Super Lig last season, nine points ahead of Besiktas, to qualify for the UEFA Europa League play-off round.
Salah has scored 66 goals in 119 appearances for Egypt and is widely regarded as one of Africa’s greatest footballers.
