The Most Reverend Augustine Obiora Akubeze, His Grace, was the pioneering Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Uromi, serving with distinction from 2005 to 2011.
During his tenure, he paid a memorable visit to my father, Pa Patrick Uwaibi JP, and our family as part of his formal tour to familiarize himself with notable Catholic families in Uromi, Benin. This gesture was a testament to his profound Catholic faith, religious consistency, and prowess.
In recognition of his exceptional leadership and dedication, he was elevated to the position of Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin in 2011. The late Archbishop embodied uncompromising love, care, and compassion, matched only by the depth of his unwavering empathy and commitment to the welfare of others.
Throughout his life, he demonstrated that true leadership lies in the sincere willingness to utilize one’s divine calling for the betterment of society. The late Archbishop will be remembered for his life of service, compassion, and unwavering dedication to humanity.
His influence and achievements will forever resonate throughout the Catholic kingdom. Dear Archbishop Akubeze, you remain an enduring symbol of humanity. You will be deeply missed by the Uwaibi dynasty and the entire Catholic community.
May your soul find eternal peace and rest in the glorious presence of our Creator. As the Bible reminds us, “death has no power over man anymore.”
On behalf of the family.
