Naomi Doshima, a 25-year-old Mass Communication student of Benue State University, has been reportedly killed by one Shago Jaffet, over N150,000 she paid to secure accommodation.

According to reports, Shago Jaffet, another student had presented himself as an agent who could help her secure a good apartment. Naomi then transferred ₦150,000 through a POS transaction as a deposit for the apartment.

Police account said Shago did not use the money to secure the apartment and when Naomi began demanding the apartment or asking for her money back, Shago came up with a horrifying plan.

He invited Naomi to his residence, claiming they needed to finalize arrangements concerning the apartment.
However, Shago allegedly attàckèd Naomi with a cutlass, kîlling her inside the residence.

He then moved her body under the cover of darkness and dumped it on an empty plot of land nearby.
He also threw her clothes and mobile phone along the roadside, in an attempt to create confusion and distance himself from the crime.

As the days passed, Naomi’s family and friends became increasingly worried. They could neither find her nor reach her on the phone, so she was reported missing to the police.

The police later discovered some of Naomi’s belongings and eventually found her body, turning the missing-person case into a mûrder investigation.

During the investigation, several of Naomi’s friends and the person who reportedly discovered some of her belongings were detained while the police tried to piece together what had happened.

Then something unexpected happened.

While they were at the police station, Naomi’s friends reportedly saw Shago. He had also been brought in for questioning after neighbours allegedly noticed suspicious behaviour around the empty plot of land.

Her friends recognized him as the same person Naomi had dealt with concerning the apartment — the man who had collected her ₦150,000 deposit.

Police then traced the financial transaction from Naomi’s account to the POS operator and eventually back to Shago.

Although he initially denied involvement, the police said the evidence against him became stronger, and he eventually confessed to the crime.
