Former Nigerian Ambassador and House of Representatives member, Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, has been listed among candidates for the 2027 Cross River governorship election following her reappearance on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) updated final list.

Toyo, who is contesting on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is listed alongside her running mate, Magam Dino Ntul, in the document released by the electoral commission on October 31.
Her inclusion comes weeks after the commission’s initial final list, published on October 10, omitted the ADC governorship ticket, raising questions about the party’s participation in the contest.
The updated list places Toyo at number two among the 10 governorship candidates in Cross River State, with Ntul listed as her deputy.

A lawyer and development advocate, Toyo previously represented Calabar/Odukpani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Djibouti.
Her public service record also includes work in governance, diplomacy and women’s development, adding to her profile as she prepares for another governorship contest in the state.
The updated INEC document, signed by the commission’s Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, also lists candidates from the APC, PDP, Labour Party, NDC and other political parties.
Toyo’s reappearance on the list effectively addresses her earlier omission and restores the ADC governorship ticket to the published list of contestants for the February 6, 2027 election.
