Court Sentences Two Tiktokers to Jail in Kano Over ‘Indecent Content’

A Kano magistrate court has sentenced two TikTok users, Isa Kabiru and Fatima Adam, to nine months in prison for posting indecent photos on the social media platform, in a case brought by the Kano State Censorship Board.

The pair faced charges of conspiracy, sharing inappropriate content, and posting images offensive to public morals before Magistrate Court No. 7.

Both pleaded guilty, leading Magistrate Halima Wali to impose a three-month sentence or a N100,000 fine for conspiracy, another three months or N100,000 for sharing offensive content, and two months or N50,000 for posting indecent images.

Additionally, they were ordered to pay N100,000 to the Censorship Board or face an extra six months in jail.

The ruling shows Kano’s strict enforcement of public morality laws, spotlighting the growing scrutiny of social media content in the region.
