Edo: Police Arrest Two Suspects in Connection with Sergeant’s Killing

The Edo State Police Command has apprehended two suspects linked to the alleged killing of Sergeant Aminu Yusuf, a police officer assigned to an expatriate in Benin City.

The tragic incident occurred along First East Circular Road on July 16, when suspected armed robbers targeted the officer who was providing security escort following a bank withdrawal.

The attackers, believed to be four in number, opened fire shortly after the vehicle left the banking premises, fatally wounding Sergeant Yusuf and fleeing with his AK-47 rifle.

Yusuf was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Edo State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, who confirmed the arrest of two suspects, revealed that a full-scale manhunt has been launched to track down the remaining perpetrators.

He added that police authorities are working to recover the stolen AK-47 rifle and bring the culprits to justice.
