Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Oyeyemi Adesoye Oyediran, has directed for the quick enforcement of the ban and seizing of any spy plate Number being used within the state including the ones used for escort purposes.
This directive was in compliance with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba on the total ban of the usage of spy plate numbers to stop the excesses of using the plate number to disregard and violate traffic rules and regulations and other extant laws.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) in the state, SP Odunlami Funmilayo, stated that the Police and other security agencies in the Command also ordered the immediate seizure of spy plate numbers in use within the state.
The command directed vehicle owners to go back to their original registered number plates as well as cooperate with the police in the enforcement of the order.
Oyediran further warned that the enforcement must be carried out with the great sense of diligence and professionalism.
Also, policemen and personnel of other security agencies attached to VIPS are urged to ensure compliance to avoid being arrested for going against the order.
