Strike: NLC, ASUU Meets To Conclude Plans On Solidarity Protest Despite FG Warning

Despite warnings by the federal government not to hold its planned solidarity protest against the ongoing strike actions by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Nigeria Labour a Congress, NLC, is set a to meet with the academic union on Monday to conclude plans on the protest.

The meeting is said to be meant for the two bodies to agree on the format the rally will take and where to converge to take off on the said dates.

Confirming the possibility of the protest holding as scheduled, an ASUU branch chairman told newsmen on Sunday thay the NLC would go ahead with the rally and that his union members would get the directive on what to do after the meeting.

Truthlive.net recalls that the NLC decided on the solidarity rally after efforts to resolve the lingering strike action by ASUU failed as the government has couldn’t meet their demands.

It was also gathered that affiliates of the Congress have signified intention to be part of the protest which is scheduledu to hold on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
