The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has disclosed the identity of contractors who are allegedly extorting money from Nigerians to issue them prepaid meters which has already been paid for by the federal government.
The federal government had through its Free Electric Metering Program bought prepaid meters to be distributed to Nigerians free of charged except for the stipend to be paid for installation.
The contractors were accused of collecting at least ₦75,000 per meter.
Moreso, it take the customers not less than 4 months to get their prepaid meters after payment.
About ten firms were indicted by CBN including: Mojec Meter Asset MgtI, IntegratedPowerH, Holley Metering, Protogy Global, Turbo Energy.
Others are: G Unit Engineering,Koby Global Engineering, FLT Energy Systems, Smart Meters Asset Provider, Cresthill Engineering.
It was also gathered that all the under listed companies are 100% owned by Nigerians.
