Ogun State police Command have arrested a herbalist identified as Samson Ogundele over alleged rape of his female client who came to him for consultation.
The suspect was nabbed following a report lodged at Oja Odan divisional headquarters by the victim, who reported that she’s a hairdressing apprentice and that a sum of one thousand naira got missing in their shop, which made all the nine apprentices consult the herbalist to know who stole the money.
On getting to the herbalist’s house, he started calling them into the room one after the other after collecting N700 for consultation fee from them.
The complaint stated that the first and second person entered and came out, when it was her turn she entered and the herbalist tried to rape her.
Upon her complaint, the DPO Oda Oja division, CSP Gabriel Ikechukwu, detailed his detectives to go after the herbalist and he was arrested.
While interrogation him, it was noted that one of the girl who is 17 years old had already had carnal knowledge of her when she meet him at the consultation room. She stated further that the herbalist threatened to kill her if she inform anyone about what happened.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Oda Oja General Hospital for checkup where the doctor confirmed that the girl has been defiled.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state Police Command DSP Abimbola Opeyemi, said the herbalist himself has confessed to the Commission of the crime.
The state Commission of Police, CSP Lanre Bankole has directed that the suspect to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
