The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, accompanied by A.M. Yerima, visited land in Abuja linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff, following a confrontation between soldiers at the site and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
A viral video circulating on social media on Tuesday showed Minister Wike being stopped by armed personnel led by Lt. Yerima, who refused him access to the land. Lt. Yerima defended his actions, saying he was acting lawfully.
Located in Abuja’s Guzape area, the property has become a flashpoint. Wike says the development lacks proper documentation and violates the city’s master plan, while sources close to the former Chief of Naval Staff insist the land was legally allocated and that the soldiers were providing security.
