Kano State Hisbah Arrests Two Suspects for Alleged Child Trafficking

Kano Hisbah Board has arrested two suspects, a 58-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man, for allegedly trafficking three underage girls.

Deputy Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, Dr. Mujahideen Aminudeen, confirmed the arrests on Wednesday.

The pair were caught after a public argument over payment for the girls, with the man demanding N15,000 per girl, N5,000 more than the initial agreement.

Their argument drew attention at the Fagge Motor Park, leading people nearby to alert Hisbah Officers.

The rescued girls; 14-year-old Rashida Hussaini, 14-year-old Kuburiyya, and 17-year-old Rukayya Umar, are all from Jigawa state, Kazaure Local Government.

Both suspects have been handed over to NAPTIP for further investigation and possible prosecution.

“Such decisions often expose them to exploitation and human trafficking networks,” Dr. Mujahideen Aminudeen warned parents against sending their children away in search of opportunities.
