Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has instructed newly elected local government chairmen to avoid council secretariats to prevent a breakdown of law and order in the state.

Adeleke also urged the officials to work within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) manifesto, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to transforming the state for the better.

The governor issued these directives while administering the oath of allegiance and oath of office to 30 local government chairmen and vice-chairmen at the Osun State Government House on Sunday.

Adeleke emphasized the importance of being agents of change, community developers, and providers of democratic dividends.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde congratulated the newly sworn-in officials, reminding them to fulfill their campaign promises.

“This is an opportunity for you to deliver to the grassroots.

“This will be your stepping stone to higher positions and the reward for hard work is more opportunities.”

Expressing surprise at the violence which broke out in the state on Monday, February 17, 2025, Makinde warned against resorting to self-help, even in the face of a court judgment, and emphasized the need for peaceful provision of democratic dividends.

The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) had announced candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as winners of the 332 councillorship and 30 local government chairmanship seats in the state.
