The Airport Road, in Akwa Ibom State has been renamed “Udom Emmanuel Boulevard.”
The rename road is 21.5 km portion of Oron Road, from the Ring Road III roundabout to the Victor Attah International Airport Gate.
Governor Eno, announced the renaming of the road while commissioning the expanded road project on Monday.
Excited about expansion of the all-important gateway road project by his predecessor, the Governor described himself as a man with the finishing anointing.
He noted that the road will redefine the state’s ambiance, especially to visitors.
The Chief Press Secretary Ekerete Udoh in a Facebook post on Tuesday stated that
Governor Eno reaffirmed his commitment to constructing, expanding, and maintaining the edge in Akwa Ibom’s infrastructural development.
Thus the Governor said: “I am sure every Akwa Ibomite, irrespective of political persuasion, should be proud of this gateway into our beautiful and serene capital city of Uyo.
“We have added some features to make the road even more welcoming to our visitors.
He highlighted the character, pulse, and ethos of any city in all over the world.
He said to a large extent, are defined and shaped by what a first-time visitor sees at the point of arrival.
For instance, he said they are the airport, and the major road that leads to the city center.
As a result, Governor Eno thanked Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his kind support to the state.
He expressed the willingness of the state government to partner with the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development for Nigeria to take advantage of the state’s smart International Airport Terminal and the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility.
He assured that On Wednesday, he will give an in-depth account of his scorecard and where he intends to go in his second year in office.
Commissioning the Boulevard named after him, Mr Udom Emmanuel said he is happy for the honor done him by naming both the airport road and the Dakkada Towers after him.
“Let me thank you for the vision of naming this road after me and, by extension, my entire family.”
“I want to thank you for this honor. I don’t take it for granted. I’m amazed and overwhelmed that God laid this in your heart and you did it,” Emmanuel stated.
Also, the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Sen. Sam Anyanwu commended the governor for his achievements within one year in office.
He said the party is always very proud and happy to identify with Governor Umo Eno and his achievements.
Truth Live News learned that the leader of Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Bob; Ambassador Assam Assam, SAN; Paramount Ruler of Uruan, HRM Edidem Cosmas Bassey Nkanga; and Chairman of Uyo LGA, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, attended the event.
They pledged to support Governor Umo Bassey Eno’s administration beyond 2027.
