A’Ibom Gov. Mourns With Wigwe’s Family In Lagos

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has mourned with aged parents of the late GMD/CEO of Access Holdings Plc, Dr Herbert Wigwe.

Herbert Wigwe, died on February 9, 2024, in a tragic helicopter crash near Nipton California.

He died at the age of 57 alongside his wife, son and others in the helicopter crash.

Dr. Wigwe was estimated to worth over $680 million.

He hailed from Isiokpo Ikwerre LGA of Rivers state South South Nigeria.

During the condolence visit to the aged parents of late top banker on Friday at their Northern Foresehore Estate in Lagos, Eno described him as a brother.

He consoled the aged parents Pastor Shyngle and Lady Stella Wigwe, on the fact that their son was a star.

Moreover, he assured them that he, and the rest of Herbert’s brothers and sisters will rally round them during this trying moment.

Nevertheless, the rally will mitigate the effects of the tragic helicopter accident that claimed the lives of the late banker wife, Chizoba, and son, Chizzy.

Also, killed alongside the late entrepreneur was the former Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange ( NGX), Mr. Abimbola Ogunbanjo.

Accordingly, Gov. Eno urged them to take heart and be strong.

He said the thoughts and prayers of Akwa Ibom people were with the families of all the deceased.

Therefore, he prayed God to bless their souls.

The Access Bank Plc Chairman, Mr Paul Usoro, SAN, Mr Aigboje Aig -Imoukhuede and deceased brother, Mr Emeka Wigwe received Governor Eno and his entourage during the visit.

Meanwhile, the Governor signed the condolence register, where he wrote:

“To my brother Herbert, you came, impacted the world and made it better than you met it.”

“May your memory live forever. May God grant everyone, particularly your aged parents, the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”

“Rest in peace my brother,” he concluded.

For instance, Government House Media Unit Uyo said Pastor Shyngle Wigwe responded and thanked the Governor for the visit.

Although, he noted that every parent expect his children to buried them.

He added that the devastating incident was a test of his faith in God.

“Keep praying for Wigwe family at this hour of grieve,” the former DG of Nigerian Television Authority ( NTA) urged everyone.

Also, Mrs Cecila Ibru, Dr. Dere Awosika, Mr Dere Otubu, Dr Yemi Ogunbiyi, Sam Iwuajoku and Greg Unaseru attended the visit.
