Akwa Ibom Governor Swears In New Commissioners, SAs

AKWA IBOM, UYO – The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, Ph.D, has officially sworn in a new set of Commissioners and Special Advisers to drive his administration’s policies and development agenda.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday, February 24, 2025, in Uyo, the state capital.

According to a press release issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Enobong Uwah, the governor has approved the appointments and portfolio assignments for the new officials, with immediate effect.

Key Appointments and Portfolios

Among the newly appointed officials, Uko Essien Udom, SAN, retains his position as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, while Elder Paul Ekong Bassey takes charge of the Ministry of Sport.

The Ministry of Finance will be overseen by Mr. Bob Almond Emem, and Dr. Nsikan Linus Nkan has been assigned the Ministry of Economic Development.

Other key appointments include:

Dr. Anthony Luke Udoh – Ministry of Transport

Dr. (Mrs.) Offiong Samuel Offor – Ministry of Agriculture

Rt. Hon. Iniobong Robson Nnamso – Ministry of Power

Prof. Eno James Ibanga – Ministry of Works & Fire Service

Dr. Ekem Emmanuel John – Ministry of Health

Hon. (Mrs.) Iniobebe Silas Etukudo – Ministry of Women Affairs & Social Welfare

Prof. Ubong Essien Umoh – Ministry of Education

Additionally, two Special Advisers were appointed:

Barr. Kufre Effiong Udosen – Bureau of Political & Social Re-Orientation

Rt. Hon. (Mrs.) Alice Ekpenyong, FCIA – Bureau of Cooperatives & Rural Development

Governor Eno’s Vision for Akwa Ibom

Governor Umo Eno emphasized that these appointments are part of his commitment to good governance, economic growth, and infrastructural development in the state. He charged the new commissioners and advisers to work diligently in delivering quality services to the people of Akwa Ibom.

The appointments and postings take immediate effect, as confirmed in the press release by the SSG. Residents and stakeholders in Akwa Ibom have expressed optimism that the new team will help propel the state’s development agenda.
