Cross River State Governor Sen. Bassey Edet Otu has withdrawn the appointment of Mr Patrick Edi, as the Clerk of the state House of Assembly.

The approval for immediate withdrawal of Mr Edi’s appointment contained in a statement shared on social Media by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker Matthew Okache.

Okache, in the release said Governor Otu had in a letter dated March 18, 2024, notified the House of Assembly of his decision to sack Mr Edi.

In addition, Truth Live News learned that the governor sent the letter through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh.

Accordingly, the Speaker Rt Hon. Elvert Ayambem read the letter on the floor of the House of Assembly on March 19, 2024.

The letter highlighted Mr Edi’s offenses to include lack of critical criterion for seniority in the recommendations made to the Governor.

As a result, the Governor appointed Barr. Catherine Ubi as the substantive clerk of the Cross River State House of Assembly.

Meanwhile, Mr Patrick Edi was employed before Mrs Ubi.

Moreover, the letter stated that Mrs Catherine Ubi, became a Director before Mr Edi which gives her the advantage of seniority.
