The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Senator Lola Ashiru and Saliu Mustapha as winners of Kwara South and Kwara Central Senatorial elections in the Saturday National Assembly election.
In the result of the election announced by Professor Ajibola Akanbi the returning officer of INEC in Omu-Aran collation center on Sunday, Ashiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner of Kwara South Senatorial election.
Akanbi said Ashiru polled a total of 55,966, while Rafiu Ibrahim of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 34,950 votes and Professor Wale Suleiman of Social Democratic Party (SDP) polled a total 24,215 votes to come third in the keenly contested election.
Also in Kwara Central, Candidate of the ruling APC), Mallam Saliu Mustapha was declared winner of Kwara Central Senatorial election.
According to the results announced by Professor Abdullahi Abubakar, INEC, returning officer, Mustapha polled 109,823 votes while his major opponent from PDP, Bolaji Abdullahi got 69,202 votes.
Labour Party (LP) candidate, Faruq Akanbi and Dr Ridwan Apaokagi of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) scored 9,280 and 13,193 votes respectively in the election.
Meanwhile in the result of the Presidential election collated at the INEC headquarter, Ilorin till the early hours of Monday, the APC candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu polled a total of 263,572 votes in the election while Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of PDP scored 136,909 votes and Labour Party, (LP) candidate, Peter Obi scored 31,166 votes in the election.
