The Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees have appealed to the Edo State government to sustain the legacy of the founder of the Charilove Foundation fondly called Project Charilove, Mr. Chris Omusi who died on 28th November 2024.

Recall that Omusi died at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) after a brief illness.

The appeal was made in a statement signed by Prof. Chris Ugolo and brother Chika Nwokoye on behalf of the boards and made available to Journalists in Benin City.

The duo in their statement titled “Brother Chris Omusi, an icon of the less-privilege and physically challenged in Edo State passes on”, said it is time to give support to the hundreds of helpless children at the centre.

According to them “On behalf of the Board of Trustees and Board of Directors, we formally bring to the attention of the PRESS the passing on of the Initiator, Founder and Servant Leader of the CHARILOVE FOUNDATION popularly called PROJECT CHARILOVE, Brother Chris Omusi who went to join the heavenly Saints on Thursday, 28th November 2024 after a brief illness at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.

“His remains were immediately committed to mother earth on 29th November 2024 at the CHARILOVE centre, Sapele road after due consultation with his immediate family.

“This brings to an end an era of over thirty years of selfless service to humanity and commitment to giving hope to the hopeless, providing food and shelter to the homeless, the downtrodden and the physically challenged in Edo State and abandoned children picked from the streets.

“We therefore call on the Edo State Government, Philanthropists and other Kind hearted individuals to rally round the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees not to let the Vision and dream of the FOUNDATION and PROJECT CHARILOVE die with his passing.

“This is the time to give support to the hundreds of helpless children at the CHARILOVE centre. The Centre is open for formal visits and tour of the facilities he left behind.

“May his gentle soul rest in the Bossom of the lord. Amen”.
