Toba Owojaiye reporting
Abuja , Nigeria
In a distressing development, an estimated thirty children have been forcibly taken by suspected bandits from Kasai village in the Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State. This surge in criminal activity within Batsari, a region designated as a Security Frontline, underbellies the escalating threat of banditry in the area.
According to eyewitness accounts shared with Channels Television and duly monitored by Truth Live News, the abduction transpired during the early hours of Monday as the children were gathering firewood for cooking. The assailants, identified as bandits, intercepted the children behind the village and apprehended them.
Despite the gravity of the situation, government officials and security agencies have not issued any formal statements regarding the incident. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, has yet to provide any commentary in response to inquiries.
Local residents are understandably apprehensive about the deteriorating security situation in the region, fervently urging for immediate measures to restore peace and safeguard their communities.
This distressing incident follows closely on the heels of the abduction of students from Kuriga in the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna, exactly a week prior, further highlighting the rampant insecurity plaguing northern Nigeria.
