Controversial crossdresser, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, popularly known as Bobrisky, has landed in police detention at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, following his arrest by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). This marks the latest development in a series of controversies surrounding Bobrisky’s lifestyle, legal challenges, and clashes with Nigerian authorities.

Bobrisky, who has long attracted attention for his bold and often divisive presence on social media as a crossdresser, has faced backlash from conservative groups and regulatory bodies in Nigeria. Over the years, his public persona has been a source of debate and legal scrutiny, with many accusing him of promoting values that conflict with Nigeria’s cultural and legal frameworks. Bobrisky has also faced various allegations ranging from defamation, tax evasion, to being accused of violating the country’s cyber laws.

The current situation escalated when Bobrisky was intercepted by immigration officials at the Seme border while allegedly attempting to leave the country. Sources reveal that he was brought to the Force CID in Alagbon for safekeeping on Monday night after spending the previous night in custody.

A source confirmed, “Bobrisky was arrested at the Seme Border and brought to the FCID Alagbon around 10 p.m. on Monday. He has been detained and is awaiting further directives.”

Mayegun Aminat, spokesperson for the FCID, also confirmed the detention, stating, “He is with us and we are seeking a remand to keep him in custody today.”

The Nigeria Immigration Service issued a statement, affirming that Bobrisky was apprehended as part of their commitment to securing Nigeria’s borders. The statement read, “He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.”

As Bobrisky remains in detention, the unfolding case adds to the long list of controversies that have followed him in recent years. The public now waits to see what legal actions will follow.
