A Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress in Kaduna, Rufai Ahmed Chanchangi, has officially resigned from his position as a member of the Governing Council of the University of Benin, signaling his full entry into the race for the House of Representatives seat representing Kaduna South Federal Constituency.
In a statement made available to constituents and supporters, Chanchangi confirmed that his decision was driven by the need to concentrate fully on his political ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.
“I am writing to inform my constituents and well-wishers that I have resigned my position as Member of the Governing Council of the University of Benin. This decision is to enable me focus on my campaign for the House of Representatives seat in Kaduna South Federal Constituency,” he stated.
The resignation aligns with a broader directive by the Federal Government mandating political appointees seeking elective offices to step down ahead of the election cycle.

Chanchangi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in the university’s governing body, noting that his experience working with academic leadership and stakeholders was both rewarding and impactful.
“I appreciate the opportunity to have served and look forward to continuing to serve Kaduna South in a new capacity,” he added.
