Breaking: Plot By Edo Deputy Gov To Scuttle State Football Election With Stadium Urchins Uncovered

Moments after the show of shame and the stage-managed embarrassment, the Edo state deputy Governor, Mr Philip Shaibu and his media crew caused the Obaseki government during the colloquium of the 60th anniversary of the Midwest referendum in the Sir Victor Uwaifo innovation hub at the Observer newspapers, information reaching Truth Live News indicated that the embattled DG went straight to the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium where he was alleged to have boasted that he has returned to reclaim his position as the head of sports in the state, which no one can take away from him.  

The recalcitrant DG was heard boasting to some stadium thugs who gathered around that he would install his preferred candidate as the state football association chairman using the committee`s chairman, Mr. Darlington Obaseki, who himself, was installed by the DG`s sister-in-law, the deposed permanent secretary, Mrs Sabina Chikere as the chairman in a crookedly arranged electoral committee with members handpicked by the erstwhile self-acclaimed “super sportswoman” of Edo State. 

According to an eye witness who pleaded for his name not to be mentioned, Philip Shaibu was seen being hailed as he came into the stadium by some street urchins led by one Benard Joma, who was recently accused of beating up a chairmanship contestant from Owan West LGA, on Wednesday last week at the Etsako west LGA secretariat, where his victim Mr Uade Odion lost cash of thousands of naira, 200 USD and other valuable materials including an iPhone. 

According to our source, the same Joma had boasted that since the Deputy Governor has returned from his trip to the US, he will now take over the Edo State Football Association election on Friday and ensure that the “anointed candidate of Sabina and Shaibu is installed as the chairman”. 

He said: “They were shouting and hailing the DG, calling him the king of boys, and many (Igbo) weed smokers were around. The DG said he is back, and nobody can take football out of his hands, and they were all shouting and hailing him.” 

“They have also perfected plans to disqualify some candidates they see as threats and stop some eligible voters from voting, using the state FA secretary, Tony Owen, who is from Delta state, to execute the plot.” 

He queried, “How could a man from Delta State be made the secretary of the Edo State Football Association? This is one of the terrible things Sabina created before the governor removed her, and we pray the state governor still comes to the rescue of football and sports in general in our dear state from the hands of Shaibu, Joma and his thugs.
