In a groundbreaking move aimed at streamlining government operations and curbing excess expenditures, President Tinubu has implemented a series of reforms based on the Oronsaye report.

The initiative involves the consolidation and merging of several government agencies, fostering a leaner administrative structure in line with the commitment to reduce the cost of governance.

One of the notable consolidations is the merger of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, a strategic alignment to enhance the nation’s response to health challenges. Similarly, the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria has been amalgamated with Radio Nigeria, fostering efficiency and synergy in the media sector.

President Tinubu’s administration has also merged the National Emergency Management Agency with the Commission for Refugee Migration, a move designed to optimize resources and improve the coordination of emergency response efforts. Additionally, the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission has been consolidated with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, streamlining investment promotion strategies and export initiatives under one umbrella.

The consolidation trend continues with the merger of the National Theatre and the National Troupe of Nigeria, fostering a unified approach to promoting and preserving the nation’s rich cultural heritage.

President Tinubu, while announcing these reforms, reassured the public that the restructuring would not lead to job losses for civil servants. He emphasized that the primary goal is to enhance efficiency, eliminate redundancies, and ultimately reduce the financial burden on the government.

This move aligns with President Tinubu’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and creating a more efficient and responsive government. By implementing the Oronsaye report recommendations, the administration aims to ensure that public resources are utilized judiciously, promoting transparency and accountability in the governance framework.

The President called on all stakeholders, including civil servants and the general public, to support the government’s efforts in building a more streamlined and effective public sector.
