Breaking: ICPC Drags El-Rufai to Court Over Alleged Multi-Billion Naira Fraud

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has announced plans to arraign former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, before both federal and state high courts over alleged corruption-related offences.

In a press statement issued on Monday, the anti-graft agency disclosed that El-Rufai, alongside one Joel Adoga, will face trial at the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna on March 24, 2026. The charges, filed under suit number FHC/KD/73/2026, include allegations of conversion and possession of public property, as well as money laundering.

The ICPC further revealed that a separate charge has been instituted against El-Rufai and another individual, Amadu Sule, before the Kaduna State High Court. The case, marked KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/26, borders on allegations of abuse of office, fraud, and intent to commit fraud by conferring undue advantage.

According to the Commission, both cases were filed on March 18, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to combat corruption and enforce accountability in public service. While the arraignment date for the state high court case is yet to be fixed, the Commission assured that it would be communicated in due course.

The ICPC confirmed that El-Rufai has been duly served with the charges and emphasized its commitment to upholding due process and the rule of law.
