The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intensified air operations against terrorists and criminal elements across the country.
The announcement was made on Monday, March 22, 2026, via the NAF’s official X handle. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, made the pledge while honouring troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE during an Eid-el-Fitr luncheon in Makurdi, Benue State.
Represented by the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the CAS expressed “profound appreciation for the courage, discipline and sacrifices of personnel deployed within the theatre.”
Highlighting the force’s ongoing efforts, he stated that the NAF “remains resolute in prosecuting intelligence-driven air campaigns designed to degrade the operational capabilities of terrorists and criminal networks.”
He further noted that the Air Force had conducted “precision strikes, close air support, and armed reconnaissance missions in synergy with sister Services and other security agencies,” adding that these operations “have significantly disrupted adversary logistics, command structures, and freedom of movement.”
The CAS attributed recent operational gains to “the professionalism, determination, and joint operational synergy demonstrated by personnel on the frontlines.”
In his welcome address, the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command, Air Vice Marshal MC Ekwueme, commended personnel for their “dedication and high morale,” emphasizing the importance of “sustained operational focus and unity of purpose in confronting emerging threats.”
Also speaking, the Air Component Commander, Wing Commander OO Evulobi, acknowledged “the continued support of the Chief of the Air Staff and the collective efforts of all stakeholders in advancing operational success.”
