Gov. Otu Hails Nigerian Army For Building Commercial School In C’River

Cross River State Governor Sen Bassey Edet Otu, has commended the Nigerian army for embarking on Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Project, a commercial school in Bedia Community.

He gave the commendation on Friday when he commissioned the school in Obudu LGA, south south Nigeria.

With the construction of commercial school, a new science building and reconstruction of a hall named after Late Major U.J Undiandeye, individual and community can now meet security and socioeconomic goals.

In addition, Governor Otu who spoke through his Deputy Rt. Hon. Peter Odey said the school will bring about peace, meaningful development, unity, cultural affinity and social integration.

Meanwhile, he called for the Army to consider transforming the Bedia Community Commercial School to Command Secondary School for the Educational training of more people.

Nevertheless, Cross River State Governmment remained proud of Maj. Gen. EAP Undiandeye’s achievements for the state and the nation.

Thus, the Governor of Cross River State recently bestowed Maj. Gen. Undiandeye with the highest honour to underscore this fact.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. T. A. Lagbaja, highlighted the potential benefits of the project.

He spoke earlier that Maj. Gen. EAP Undiandeye conceptualized the school and executed to meet security and socioeconomic goals.

Moreover, he affirmed it will bring about peace, meaningful development, unity, cultural affinity and social integration.

“The army was in active pursuit of education for all,” said Lagbaja. As a means of achieving peace, justice, freedom and equality.”

Also, Maj. Gen. EAP Undiandeye expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for providing an opportunity for the education of Bedia children.

Gen. Undiandeye declared the Bedia community will not be the same following contributions received from the Chief of Army Staff.

For instance, the CIMIC project included the construction of a new science building, reconstruction of a hall, construction of a borehole, installation of solar lights and a CBT Block for WAEC and JAMB.

Accordingly, members of the State Executive Council; the APC State Chairman, Barr. Alphonsus Eba, the Chief of Defence Logistics; Chief of Training; the Commander, Special Forces attended the event.

The Director-General, Army Heritage Centre; Commander, Artillery; Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison, the Paramount Ruler of Obudu also attended.

The event also featured presentation of mementos and cultural dances.
