The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old social media content creator, Osarobo Omoyemen popularly known as “Madam Oil Rice”, for fabricating a kidnapping story on TikTok.
She falsely claimed to have been kidnapped, rescued by the police, and charged a N10,000 “bail.”
Investigations revealed that the incident was staged managed to boost her online following.
According to the Edo State Police image maker, Joel Yamu, a case has been filed against her in court on November 20, 2025, for spreading false information.
He urged the public to verify information before sharing and warned against using social media to incite panic while accomplices were being tracked while the case was ongoing.
