The Federal High Court in Lagos has dismissed the N21.5 billion money laundering accusations against former Air Force Chief Adesola Amosun and two others, filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Truthlive news gathered that initially, on June 29, 2016, Amosun, along with Air Vice Marshal Jacob Adigun and Air Commodore Gbadebo Olugbenga, faced a 26-count charge.
However, they faced re-arraignment before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke on a 13-count amended charge of money laundering amounting to N21.5 billion.
The trio was accused of conspiring and diverting NAF funds for personal gain. Yet, the defendants argued that as military officers at the time, they should be tried by a court-martial, not a civilian court.
In his ruling on Tuesday, Justice Aneke agreed, stating that military officers should undergo military investigation and trial procedures. He declared the January 30, 2015 investigation of Amosun invalid.
Additionally, Justice Aneke dismissed the amended charges against the defendants.
