The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Elijah Ayodele, has attributed Nigeria’s worsening insecurity and the proposed timing of the 2027 presidential election to the political fate of President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement circulated widely on Wednesday, he warned that the suggested election date, January 16, could work against Tinubu’s chances of re-election, describing it as unfavourable to the President’s political prospects.
According to the cleric, rising insecurity across the country may also compel authorities to reconsider the election timetable, noting that the prevailing situation could make it difficult to proceed as planned.
“Apart from that date, just as I’ve said, January 16 is not good for Tinubu’s victory,” he said, adding that if the date is retained, the political consequences could be significant.
The very vocal cleric further warned that ignoring the warning could prove costly, insisting that the timing of the election, combined with security challenges, may shape the eventual outcome of the polls.
“And insecurity would likely make them change the date of the election,” Ayodele prophesied in the video.
Anticipating criticism, the cleric maintained that his remarks were based on spiritual insight rather than political bias, stressing that he was only relaying what he foresaw.
“But if God wants him to lose, then let him keep that 16th of January; he will see what will happen thereafter.
“Let him have movements all over the world because that day is a bad day for his victory,” he said.
“Anybody can criticise it. I’m just saying what I see and what I know,” he said.
His latest comments add to a growing list of predictions he has made ahead of the 2027 general elections, many of which have continued to generate debate.
