Security advocate Darlington Okpebholo-Ray has called for stronger community policing as part of measures to address the rising cases of kidnapping and violent crimes in Edo State, particularly across Esanland.
Okpebholo-Ray made the call during an appearance on Arise News on Saturday, where he highlighted the growing security concerns in the area.
According to him, many forests and bushes within the region have increasingly become hideouts for criminal elements responsible for kidnapping, rape and killings.
He stressed that security agencies must intensify efforts to flush out the criminals, noting that while government intervention remains crucial, communities must also play an active role in supporting security operations and protecting their environment.
Okpebholo-Ray emphasised that stronger collaboration between residents and security agencies would significantly improve the fight against insecurity across the region.
He also acknowledged the commitment of Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, in addressing the security challenges facing the state, describing the administration’s efforts as commendable.

He further referenced recent security initiatives within the community, including the donation of a Hilux van to the Esan Youths Awareness Movement Security Network and the acquisition of a security drone by the Uromi Like Minds Initiative, noting that both efforts would strengthen grassroots security operations and support the collective fight against insecurity.
