The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Edo State Branch has lauded the state Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika for his quick response and the arrest of abductors connected to the kidnap of one of its members, Dr. Ibrahim Babatunde, saying it was a sign of the police unwavering dedication to citizen safety.
Recall that three of the suspected members of a kidnap gang involved in the abduction of Dr. Abu and his younger brother, Tahir Abu were arrested in Auchi Etsako West Local Government Area on Sunday when they took their sick child to the hospital where Dr. Abu works.
He was said to have recognized two of them as members of the kidnap gang. The police were called in and had them arrested.
Meanwhile, operatives of the command had before then arrested one of them.
Chairman of the NMA, Edo State Branch, Dr. Eustace Oseghale and Secretary, Dr. Iluobe Inegbenosun, in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin, commended the police efforts in bolstering security throughout Edo State.
Oseghale said that the recent capture of a kidnap suspect allegedly involved in the abduction of one of their members is a clear demonstration of their dedication and commitment to safeguarding doctors and residents in the Edo State.
“The Commissioner of Police Edo State Police Command, the Nigeria Medical Association, Edo State Branch extends our heartfelt commendation for your tireless efforts in enhancing security in Edo State.
“The recent capture of a kidnap suspect allegedly involved in the abduction of one of our members is a testament to your dedication and commitment to the safety of our citizens.
“We particularly applaud the swift and tactical response of your officers, which has brought hope to the victim’s family and the entire community.
“We are confident that this breakthrough will be pursued with utmost diligence, leading to a significant reduction in kidnapping incidents in the state. Your efforts will be surely etched in the sands of history,” the NMA said.
