Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested 18 individuals suspected of supplying logistics to Boko Haram terrorists in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.
The suspects were intercepted on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, while moving through Gubio towards the Gudumbali axis, where they were allegedly heading to deliver supplies to terrorist elements.
In a statement, the Nigerian Army said the arrests expose a troubling trend of civilian involvement in support networks sustaining insurgent activities in the North-East.
“Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested 18 individuals linked to the supply of logistics to Boko Haram terrorists, highlighting a disturbing pattern of civilian involvement in support networks that sustain insurgent activities in the North-East,” the statement read.
According to the Army, preliminary investigations revealed that many of the suspects were driven into the illegal operation by economic hardship, showing how terrorist groups continue to exploit vulnerable individuals.
“Initial confessions suggest that the individuals were drawn into the illicit trade largely due to personal economic challenges,” the statement added.
The Army issued a strong warning to the public against any form of collaboration with terrorist groups, stressing that providing logistics, intelligence, or other forms of assistance constitutes a serious offence with severe consequences.
It further emphasised that the fight against terrorism requires collective responsibility, urging communities to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.
“The effectiveness of ongoing operations depends greatly on the vigilance, cooperation, and active support of host communities. Citizens are encouraged to promptly report suspicious activities and resist any inducement to aid criminal elements,” the statement said.
The Army also highlighted the importance of sustained socio-economic interventions, including empowerment programmes, skills development, and improved access to basic services, as key measures to reduce vulnerability to recruitment by criminal groups.
Reaffirming its commitment, the Nigerian Army assured citizens of its resolve to protect lives and maintain security across affected regions, noting that lasting peace can only be achieved through a combination of military efforts and community partnership.
