C’River Deputy Gov. Mourns Ayade’s Sister, Joins Worshippers In Obubra

The Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon Peter Odey has described former Governor Ben Ayade’s Sister late Mrs Janet Unigar Ateb, as a dedicated Christian, an epitome of hardwork, generously disposed to charity.

Odey made this known when he attended the Funeral Service in honour of late Mrs Janet Unigar Ateb, on Saturday.

Late Mrs. Ateb was born on the 28th October, 1969 and attended St. Stephen Primary School Obudu and Ipong Secondary School before gaining admission into the prestigious University of Calabar where she graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Economics and Extension.

“Your Excellency, in this time of mourning, I wish to extend my deepest sympathies and to celebrate the positive Impact she had on countless lives within her few years on earth,” he said.

The service which was held by the Assemblies of God Church, Obudu LGA in the northern Senatorial District South South Nigeria, had in attendance the Governor, Sen Bassey Edet Otu.

In his condolence message to the family Otu said: “The late Mrs Ateb’s unrivalled simplicity in her inter-personal relationship.”

“The zeal she exhibited in the Lord’s vineyard are virtues that outlive her demise” and therefore admonished the family to be consoled that she lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation,” he added.

Late Janet Unigar Ateb who died on November 24, 2023 at the age of 54 after a brief illness, is survived by her husband, Hon. Emmanuel Ateb, children, siblings, in-laws and many relatives.

Dignitaries in attendance Include the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Elvert Ayambem and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen George Akume.

In another development, the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, with his entourage on Sunday had joined worshippers to thank God for his grace upon his life.

Odey who made a stop at the St. Eugene Roman Catholic Parish in Ochon (Obubra LGA) on his way back from the funeral of Mrs. Janet Ateb (Née Ayade) said he was also there to support his old friend, the parish priest, Rev. Fr Christian Ihemase.
