C’River Deputy Gov Receives Kinsmen In Office, Invites Them Home

The Cross River State Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, has extended to Egbe Mbube Progressive Union, Calabar Branch an invitation to his residence in Calabar to enable them discuss issues bothering the community in a relaxed atmosphere.

Odey gave the invitation when the group paid him courtesy call on Wednesday in his office in Calabar.

After the group had raised issues concerning the abandoned clinic and dilapidated primary school in their region, the Deputy Governor gave them assurance that the contractors handling the health facility in that region will be contacted to complete the project.

Hon. Odey who expressed appreciation to the Egbe Mbube people in the Cross River northern Senatorial District South South Nigeria for the visit also promised them that the school will be renovated.

Citing the clinic and the primary school in Egbe Mbube which had been abandoned and rapidly dilapidating, the chairman of the Union, Dr. Sunny Ogon told Odey that the reasons for the visit was not only to present a few challenges they are faced with back home but also to rejoice with him as their brother over his victory at the polls.

Ogon alongside other members of the Union including Chief Dr. Akpeh Edung, a retired permanent secretary, Professor Jonas Akung and Mr. Thomas Atem a retired director while reiterating the needs of the community and the call for more women inclusion in the scheme of things reported that the secondary school was understaffed.

Highlights of the visit was presentation of a portrait to the Deputy Governor by the group.
