C’River Govt Reminds Commercial Motorcycle Riders Of Ban, List 16 Routes To Avoid

MOTORCYCLES RIDERS IN CALABAR – The Cross River State government has again reminded commercial motorcycles riders that the ban on them plying the capital city is still in force.

In a statement, the state security adviser to the Governor, Maj. Gen. O. U Obono (rtd), made this known to newsmen on Tuesday in Calabar.

Obono said in an effort to sustain the peace currently enjoyed in the state, the public is hereby reminded that the ban on commercial motorcycles riders and trycycles operators on major routes within the state is still in force.

Also, he said to ensure maximum security of lives and property, riders of motorcycles and trycycles operators are strictly advised to obey government’s directive by avoiding the restricted routes and limiting themselves to the designated areas.

According to him, for the avoidance of doubt, commercial motorcycles riders and trycycles operators are not expected along the major routes.

The 16 routes include Marian road, mutala Mohamed highway, IBB Way, Eta Agbor road, Àtimbo, Diamond, Mary Slessor, 8miles up to Tinapa junction.

Others routes include, Marian Hill, Moore Road, Barracks road, MCC Road, Akai Efa, Ikot Ishie, Ikot Ansa, Federal and State Housing Estates, and Parliamentary Road up to Extension.

Therefore, the statement warned that motorcycles riders or Trycycles operators seeing violeting the directive will be apprehended and offender made to face the wrath of the law.

Recall that sometimes in March 2024, Truth Live News reported that the Cross River State government had reinstated total ban on major routes in the Calabar metropolis.
