In order to cushion the effects of subsidy removal, the Cross River State Deputy Governor Rt. Hon Peter Odey, has flagged off the distribution of relief materials to the people of southern Senatorial District of the state.
Odey in company with Chief (Mrs) Angela Ogeyi Odey the Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) said the palliative was donated by the federal government.
The deputy governor who hinted on Friday that he was aware that times are hard said that he knows that since the subsidy was removed, prices of things have gone up in the market , life has become so difficult for people.
“Federal Governmment has sent this things to us to ensure that we give it out, this one is from FG, the one of the state government is also coming. Governor Bassey Edet Otu has asked me to thank you for remaining very peaceful,” he said.
“Today we just finished meeting with the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, in that meeting we were working out plans on how we are going to share the palliative to our people. Gone are those days when palliative would be kept in the warehouse.
Speaking earlier, Chief (Mrs) Angela Ogeyi Odey as the Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) said “I can assure you that we will do our best to ensure peaceful distribution of these relief materials.”
She said that the agency has set up logistics for onward distribution the palliatives to the various Senatorial Districts inline with the people-first-agenda.
Cross River State is blessed more than ever, the welfare of the masses senator Bassey Edet Otu, ensuring that no crossriverian will go to bed with empty stomach.
“As we speak distribution of farm input including cassava stems, yam seedlings, chemicals,” according to her SEMA registered farmers with identification slips coming from different parts of the state.”
She continued, “while we admit that some of this items are given to farmers pretty late and off season, we are in collaboration with NEMA working on modalities that will guarranty that subsistent materials are distributed at the right time.”
She continued, “We will continue to build, work together and stay together and share in love. We are in partnership with NGO’s that sends some relief materials to us and the federal government sends material too.
