President Bola Tinubu, who is facing a legal battle initiated by his political rival Atiku Abubakar, has reluctantly agreed to allow a federal judge to provide his university certificate as part of the ongoing dispute over his eligibility for theNigerian presidency. Tinubu secured a narrow victory in the recent presidential election, but questions arose regarding his eligibility, leading to this legal showdown.

Previously, Tinubu’s legal team successfully delayed the disclosure of his documents by arguing that it could pose a threat to his safety. However, they have now conceded to releasing his certificate. The controversy centers around the admission records from Chicago State University in the 1970s. College transcripts indicate the admission of an individual with the same name as Tinubu, but with a different gender.

Tinubu has urged Judge Nancy Maldonado to block the disclosure not only of his certificate but also sensitive details like gender and admission records.

The legal battle has garnered significant attention in Nigeria and internationally, given its potential impact on the nation’s leadership. As the case unfolds, both local and global audiences eagerly await further developments in this high-stakes political and legal dispute.
