Domestic Violence Turns Fatal As Man Kills Wife Over Ramadan Food In Bauchi

NIGERIA, NORTH- EAST – Bauchi State Police Command has given details of how a 50- year -old Nuru Isah, killed his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, 24, over the way and manner she handled the Ramadan food.

The Command’s Police image maker, Ahmed Wakil, in a statement, revealed that on Saturday, the command attention was drawn to an alleged culpable homicide incident near Government Girls College, Fadamam Mada Area, Bauchi.

He said that the event arose from a misunderstanding between Nuru Isah, a businessman at Central Market Bauchi, and his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, aged 24, concerning the handling of food ingredients and fruits designated for breaking the Ramadan fast, which escalated into a violent confrontation.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, Nuru Isah, is accused of using a cane to strike his wife, which resulted in her collapsing and becoming unconscious within their matrimonial residence.

“The victim was subsequently transported to Abubakar Tafawa Belewa University Teaching Hospital, ATBUTH Bauchi, where medical personnel confirmed her death”, the statement read.

He added that Bauchi State Police Command had initiated a thorough investigation into the incident and has apprehended the suspect, Nuru Isah, saying that the cane purportedly utilised in the assault has been recovered as an exhibit, and the deceased has been placed in the mortuary pending autopsy procedures.

According to the statement, the State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Muhammad, has assured the public that his commitment to ensuring justice remains a priority for the command.

It reminds the “public that domestic violence constitutes a serious offence with potentially devastating repercussions.”

“This is as the command reiterated its “unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of all citizens while ensuring that offenders of criminal activities are held accountable.”
