Because Lavender Farms has indicated interest to scale up its farming operations, Akwa Ibom state Governor Pastor Umo Bassey Eno has announced donation of one utility vehicle to him.
The Governor made the donation announcement when he visited the Farm at Afaha Etok, Ibesikpo Asutan LGA.
During the visit, Eno directed the SSG, Prince Enobong Uwah and Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Offiong Offor, to liaise with the farm management to explore possible areas of partnership.
With the donation Pastor Eno, has demonstrated his commitment to the Agricultural Revolution, an aspect of his ARISE Agenda.
Moreover, he said, he was proud to see the Ikono born Managing Director of the farm, Ubong Inyang venturing into agriculture.
While he commended Ubong’s dedication to the running of the massive integrated farm venture, the Governor said that, despite his rich family background, did not depend on parents’ achievements.
Although, he has reaffirmed government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for productive ventures to thrive in the state.
Governor Eno called on other youths to emulate the Agropreneur.
Thus, he said “I feel extremely proud of him. These are the kind of people I want to support.”
He encouraged youth to start something because it is not just enough to blame government.
“There is no one that would not love to support this kind of effort,” he assured. “We are already looking for areas we can support him to scale up.”
“That is why I came here with the Commissioner for Agriculture and SSG, because he has said he wants to scale up.”
In addition, “as we conclude this inspection, we have observed he lacks a farm vehicle.”
“So to encourage him beyond the partnership that we want to have.
“I am requesting the SSG to release one farm vehicle for him immediately to mark our visit,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Media Unit of Government House, Uyo, on Monday reported that Mr Ubong Inyang, appreciated the gesture.
He expressed gratitude to the governor over the donation and for paying him a visit in his farm.
Mr Inyang acknowledged the encouragement by the government and also expressed hope to expand his farm’s operations.
